(Jacksonville, Fla.; Aug. 15, 2008) – Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services and logistics units have been named among the “Best of the Best” in Logistics Management magazine’s 25th Annual Quest for Quality Awards. The results were published in the August edition of the magazine.
Crowley was ranked second overall among ocean carriers. Additionally, the company made the list of top 3PLs for the first time in their logistics unit’s 10-year history. The results are part of an extensive survey involving responses from over 6,000 magazine readers who have responsibility for buying transportation and third party services. To be named a leader in each category, a company had to receive at least five percent of the category vote.
In the ocean carrier segment, Crowley ranked No. 2 overall, when judged for on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service and equipment and operations.
“While Crowley did not post a top number in any of the key attribute categories, it’s a terrific example of a carrier that put up consistently high numbers in each of the categories a sure sign that its customers have been quite satisfied with its service,” said Logistics Management in its August issue.
In the logistics segment, Crowley received its highest marks in the transportation distribution and carrier selection/negotiation categories. Other areas surveyed were order fulfillment, inventory management and logistics information systems.
Logistics Management’s Quest for Quality Awards are regarded as some of the most important measures of customer satisfaction and performance excellence, among those in the transportation and logistics industry.
“Were honored once again to be recognized by our customers and by Logistics Management magazine as one of the leading ocean carriers and third party logistics companies in the world,” said Tom Crowley Jr., chairman, president and CEO. “This acknowledgment is a reflection of our outstanding employees, who work hard, innovate, and always try to find a way to exceed customers’ expectations.”
“Considering the current economy, fuel prices, expanding shipper demands, and the list of additional operational pressures carriers and providers are facing today, walking away with a Quest for Quality award in 2008 is a true testament to a company’s ability to adapt and stay relevant in an increasingly competitive environment,” said Logistics Management in the August issue.
