The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) has said it is “ready to resume negotiations with [the United States Maritime Alliance] USMX this week.
FMCS did not released further details of the talks, other than saying the parties had agreed discussions between them will continue.
Negotiations will now be focused on reaching agreement before the new “container cliff” deadline of February 6, 2013 – after which the ILA have threatened to strike if no agreement is reached.
The Journal of Commerce said the talks have reached a “crucial point.“
Customized Brokers will continue to monitor the situation and should there be any further updates we will advise accordingly.
